3 new TAF20 Firefighting Robots for Shanghai
Our firefighting robots are already used in some Chinese cities. Now, three other tracked vehicles have been sent to Shanghai. Their mission: providing greater safety for firefighters and the population through more efficient extinguishing power guaranteed by water mist.
Success cannot be stopped: in March 2018, three TAF20 tracked vehicles were delivered to the Shanghai Fire Department.
Firefighters in Shanghai use the firefighting robots mainly for work in tunnels, fires in chemical plants and gas leaks. However, these vehicles can also be used against serious fires.
Since the Fire Department considers the safety of its personnel to be of the highest priority, the firefighting robot has proved to be a precious tool. In the most dangerous situations, firefighters can command the tracked vehicle form a safe distance from where it is being used. Video cameras installed on the turbine and the lower structure show the operators what the robot “sees” at any given moment. A thermal camera provides additional information about the “hot spots” in the fire.
The Chinese have a noteworthy affinity for modern fire fighting techniques. Moreover, we were very proud that the Shanghai firefighters ranked the TAF20 as the most sophisticated firefighting robot compared with 30 different machines from both Chinese and imported brands.
In particular, they appreciated the technical features of the turbine, due to the fact that water mist extinguishing is the safest, most efficient solution for most applications.
