Eliminating Dust in a Concrete Plant - Case Study of Beton Lana (Italy)
Our V22 dust controller helps to reach the goal of the local company Beton Lana: "We want to become the cleanest gravel and concrete plant in the area".
We carried out a dust abatement project for the Bressanone site of Beton Lana, a local leader in the production of high-quality ready-mixed concrete, but also in the supply of locally sourced inert materials such as sand, gravel and crushed stone.
As Beton Lana is located directly in the industrial area of Bressanone, the company has set itself the goal of keeping dust emissions as low as possible in order to protect the surrounding companies as well as the population of the nearby city from dust. For this purpose, we from EmiControls have installed a V22 on-site in combination with the CURT management software.
The V22 guarantees very fine atomisation of water, making it able to fight large quantities of dust. The long-distance projected atomisation is able to capture an enormous quantity of dust particles, avoiding the undesired formation of water accumulations on the ground. Thanks to its wide range (70-90 meters), the V22 is suitable to be used in different scenarios such as large industrial plants, large demolitions, opencast quarries, large recycling plants and material deposits, landfills, woodworking plants, quarries.
The CURT (Control Unit for Remote-controlled Turbines) management software allows the monitoring and management of dust and odour abatement machines. The software allows the definition of parameters for the automatic activation and deactivation of the plant: for example, such as timed control and weather conditions. The CURT system installed at Beton Lana works this way: the turbine start-up automatically every morning for ten minutes and at regular intervals during the day. In addition, a weather system ensures that the turbine does not turn on when it rains or when weather conditions do not recommend it.
Of course, every customer can freely choose depending on his needs how the CURT System should manage the dust controller.
The point of view of the company Beton Lana
"Our values of innovation and sustainability have guided us in undertaking this dust abatement project with EmiControls. When it comes to gravel and concrete, everyone thinks about dirt and dust - we want to help dispel this stereotype in our industry; our ambition is to become the cleanest gravel and concrete plant in the area," says Christian Grünfelder, the operator of Beton Lana.
"We chose a dust abatement machine over a conventional spraying system because it is an innovative solution for selective dust control. As the dust controllers are equipped with filters, it allows us to use them with the court water we collect. This makes them even more an environmentally friendly unit.” concludes Christian Grünfelder.
